Our little sister is a japanese movie based on a manga, the director is Hirokazu Koreeda. The story of the movie is about three sisters; Sachi, Yoshino and Chika that live together in a old house in Kamakura left by their grandmother, Their parents divorced a long time ago after their father fell in love with a other woman. One day they received the news that their father passed away and they decide to go to the funeral after not seeing him for over 15 years. At the funeral they met their stepsister who is 14 years old and now orphan with no one was there to take care of her. Sachi decide to invite her to come and live with them.
I have to tell you that the movie as nothing to do with other movie I saw based on a manga. That movie is a chick flick with no action at all, they work, the get dumped by guys, they fight with each other, that’s it! It is a good movie, but sometimes it fell a little bit long, probably because of the lack of action! The movie don’t really introduce all the character but it’s not really a need anyways, you can understand really fast why Sachi ended up playing the mother for her sisters. I really liked Chika’s character she was nice, kind and warm, her smile make you feel better. I have to give a shout out to the really cute soccer coach that is played by the guy who does Hentai Kamen!! You can also see the lovely little old lady from An: sweet bean in the movie she plays the aunt of the girls.
Have you ever wonder how it would be to find out that you have a stepsister somewhere in the world? I remember making jokes about the subject when I was younger, and one day I woke up and learn that I had one… well let’s put it this way my story is not as glamourous as the one in the movie..
